Our lady of Elige Pentecost Pilgrimage
Source:
Ad Orientem
For 25 years, on the feast of Pentecost we have been organizing a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Ilige, the Maronite Patriarchate for 400 years. This makes it possible to weld the bonds within the community and is a means of apostolate and recruitment for the tradition.
Problems-
- For 35 years the Fraternity has sent priests for the apostolate in Lebanon.
- Accommodation of priests during their stay.
- Continuous search for churches or chapels and communities for the celebration of Masses.
- Continuous search for convents for retreats and recollections.
- Difficult growth due to lack of stable premises.
- Since the stay of Father Joseph Stannus, March 2020, the community has grown.
- 50 people attend Sunday mass.
- 10 families, Djambas, Imad, Akl, Boutros, Marina (one of their daughters is a novice in Saint-Pré and another teacher in ND of France), Chdid, Semergiants, Otayek, Hanna, Amrieh.
- Group of 20 people.
- The Djambas family apartment has become too cramped to hold so many people.
- A room for catechism, conferences and recollections has become necessary.
Solution-
- Stable place one can come without a visa from all countries of the Middle East:
- Syria
- Jordan
- Iran
- Turkey ...
- Masses in a chapel instead of a living room.
- Suitable for retirement.
- Accommodation for priests, friends of the Faternity, and catechumens…
